Overview of experience
At the height of my career as a general surgeon, I was forced to quit operating for medical reasons. Up to that point, I had a very large surgical practice and had performed more than 10,000 documented major cases. These are cases that would require a general anesthetic to put the patient to sleep. It was estimated at the time of my retirement, that I had performed an additional 20,000 minor surgeries, including those performed under local or regional anesthesia, and endoscopies.
The typical type of surgeries that I performed included procedures for breast disease, lung, esophagus, and mediastinal disease, for the contents of the abdomen [stomach, duodenum, intestines, colon, appendix, rectum, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, bladder, diaphragm, spleen], hernias, peripheral vascular problems, minor plastic procedures, skin grafts, thyroid, parathyroid, and tracheal problems, and endoscopies including colonoscopy, laryngoscopy, bronchoscopy, and esophagogastroduodenoscopy.
A major part of my practice was coordinating the overall support for major traumas, burns, devastating infections, and multisystem diseases. I was also consulted to administer hyperalimentation, and for access placement for dialysis, central venous line placement, as well as enteral and perenteral tube placement for feedings. My training extended to pediatric surgery, transplant surgery, neurosurgery, bariatric surgery and cardiac surgery, with clinical exposure to orthopedics.
Although I have served as an expert witness for both plaintiff and defense, I am now serving only as an expert consultant. As such I have reviewed hundreds of cases since 2007. If you require more detailed information, call Medical Malpractice Investigation.
